Back From A Road Trip To Vegas
What a great weekend! Lynn and I just got home last night from a weekend in Vegas to celebrate our 5th anniversary. Before I talk about our weekend, I want to first congratulate my Bruins for playing their asses off and defeating the Trojans. What a great victory. I honestly have to say that I didn't have high hopes for this game. I even bet money on USC while I was out in Vegas(I figured if I bet on USC, I would change up my teams luck and I was rewarded in spades!). It was a classic performance by my "gutty little Bruins" and this game will go down in history as one of the best ever of the cross town rivalry. I had tears of joy when the clock read 0:00. That deer in the headlights look of Pete Carroll at the end of the game was one I will not soon forget. It feels nice to shut up all the SC mafia here in OC for at least one year. I guess USC has basketball to look forward to...oh wait...UCLA is number one in basketball right now too.
So back to our road trip. We stayed at the venerable Las Vegas Hilton. Memo to Las Vegas Hilton owners: you might want to update the property and join us in the new millenium. Those acoustic ceilings and old school beds in the rooms don't cut it. As far as the weekend though, it was great. We ate at Smith & Wolinsky's Steak House on the strip Saturday night. We visited Hoover Dam before the big game on Saturday. That was impressive. I want to do a separate post about that side trip. Thursday night I hung out with my cousins. Ryan turned 21 last week so we had to baptise him with a Vegas party. We went up to the Ghostbar at The Palms Casino. It has an awesome view of the strip from the club.
We drove home yesterday and took the side rout down to Laughlin. To get to Laughlin from Vegas you have to drive through Searchlight, Nevada. For those who don't know, Searchlight is the home of US Senator Harry Reid. It's a tiny town. As far as I remember, they didn't even have a stoplight in town. It's amazing that someone can come from such a small town like that and become Majority Leader of the US Senate.

So does this mean you will be writing a check to Larry Agran in the next election?
Congrats on the anniversary and the win.
Stay at Rio next time; huge rooms and costs the same as Hilton

I'll send a check for $50 to Larry's favorite charity if he retires or runs for President again. Either way Irvine wins :)

You gotta love being USC. They get more headlines when they lose than most schools get when they win.
UCLA came to play and they won.
USC had a heckuva year for being in a rebuilding mode. And Carrol has only five losses in the last 60 games. I don't know any coaches who wouldn't take that won/loss record.
