Global Warming Meeting Canceled Because Of....Snow & Ice!

No really...you can't make this stuff up. There was a hearing scheduled for today back in DC on global warming but because of the big snow storm back there they had to cancel it. What a hoot. This is perfect for one of Jay Leno's Headlines segments.

there is plenty of evidence Global warming is a problem and there si a lot of science to back it up.

Lighten up Dan. Can't you see the irony of the pure story? As far as proof...well let's just say that not all scientists are on the same page. When liberals and tree huggers stop driving SUVs and flying in private jets, then come talk to me.

Tell you what allan. I'll believe there is no problem when oil companies don't have to pay scientists to discredit the IPCC.

    Then come talk to me.

Here’s a thought Allan. Maybe all the hoopla over global warming is really nothing. How about we address the greenhouse gas issue from a national security perspective. Becoming energy independent would enable us to not be quite so concerned the affairs of countries half a world away whose politics may or may not be friendly. Our only interest in that region is because those miserable stretches of dirt just happen to be on some of the more plentiful oil deposits. I am sick and tired of sending our brave heroes to go half way round the world to fight and die because our nation will not get off its collective asses and find a way to wean ourselves from fossil fuels.

Like Lee pointed out in another thread. Actions have consequences. And how much longer are we going to accept the negative consequences of those actions?

I agree with needing to be more energy independent Fred. My problem with your argument is that I don't believe government should be in the business of picking "winners". By that I mean selecting what type of alternative energy should be favored. The market should be able to make that determination.

You mention needing "to be independent" Frad...right? Why are we not using nuclear power more like France and Europe? It's one of the few things they have right over there. If we built a lot more nuke power plants, we would be a lot better off. The technology has been there for quite awhile. Why aren't we doing this? It's because a lot of people in your party won't let it happen.

with all due respect Allan, the addition of Lee's angry right winger postings leave precious little humor to your site. Global warming is a serious problem that all but a few (oil company backed) scientists agree must be dealt with. I've never quite understood why Republicans found humor in something so serious, but then again, you have a link to Michelle Malkin on your site which tell sme pretty much what I need to know.
