Things You Can Count On....

The sun rising in the east and setting in the west. Death & taxes, you betcha. John McCain selling out the GOP party...ding ding ding. We have a winner. The spectacle in the Senate Judiciary committee yesterday was extremely disappointing, but not unexpected. McCain managed to also pass out his open border kool-aid to Sens Graham, Brownback, DeWine, and Specter. We are now reaping what we sown by letting Arlen Specter have the gavel to the Judiciary Committee. I do have faith though that the House will not cave in conference. I will be taking all the names of GOPers who sell out the party and the country on this upcoming vote. They will get no support from me at all in the future.

Why is it that no one is actually considering sending at least some of the ILLEGAL ALIENS back where they came from? The idea of enforcing existing laws apparently doesn’t apply if enough people violate the law for long enough. Being what some people consider humane to lawbreakers seems to be more important than enforcing the law. Instead of talking about how much of a penalty the ILLEGAL ALIENS would have to pay before becoming citizens, we should be talking about how to send them back. A $1,000 or $2,000 penalty is less than many coyotes charge ILLEGAL ALIENS to bring them here. Proponents of sanctuary cities claim that they increase the chances of ILLEGAL ALIENS reporting and cooperating with police. However, many sanctuary cities have higher crime rates than average cities of the same size. It would be nice to be able to walk through a mall without hearing almost everyone speaking some foreign language!

The House bill HR4437 is a good but insufficient start. The only decent proposal in the Senate is the new one by Senate Majority Leader Frist. It would require that ILLEGAL ALIENS go back to there home countries and get in line before coming back. Better yet, since they broke our laws, I think they should be excluded from coming back. The other bills would all be a form of amnesty. The idea that we would let guest workers come here or the ILLEGAL ALIENS already here stay for 6 years and then they would have to go home is a joke. There is no mechanism to make them leave! If you are going to have a TEMPORARY GUEST WORKER PROGRAM then there should be no path to citizenship. Since there would be no lack of volunteers, I believe we should be able to be picky about who we let in.

    Here’s my program:

 Succure the borders by building a fence across all of the Mexican border. Cheaper than paying for all the illegals.
 Employment Verification System that checks the legal status of all workers
 All ILLEGAL ALIENS charged with a felony IF they do not leave the U.S. by a certain date. Entering a nation without permission should be treated more seriously than a parking ticket.
 All ILLEGAL ALIENS deported and prohibited from ever coming back or gaining legal status since they broke the law

What is being called a TEMPORARY GUEST WORKER PROGRAM is really a PRE-CITIZENSHIP PROGRAM.
I don’t favor a TEMPORARY GUEST WORKER PROGRAM but if you are going to have one I propose the following after doing the above:

     T-E-M-P-O-R-A-R-Y !
 Only 1 worker/family could come to the U.S.-no family or dependents
 The worker could stay only 1 year
     No pathway to citizenship
The above would increase the chance that the worker would return home and would reduce our social service costs.
