Demint Poised for Primary Win

It looks like based on today's latest poll that Jim Demint will defeat former governor David Beasley(R-SC) in today's South Carolina Senate primary. This is indeed good news.Chalk up a win for the good guys.Demint is a strong free market conservative. He will have a great shot at capturing this open seat for the republicans in the fall.

    ****5:50 PST UPDATE*****

Jim Demint has indeed won the republican nomination for the Senate in South Carolina. With 83% reporting,Jim Demint had 60% of the vote versus ex-gov. David Beasley won took 40% of the vote.Congressman Demint will now face Inez Tannenbaum(D) in the fall. This should be a pickup for the republicans. On a more sour note,it seems the GOP nominee for Senate in Illinois,Jack Ryan, had some very salicious divorce details unsealed today by an Illinois judge. This pretty much seals our fate of saving this seat. There's no truth to the rumor that Bill Clinton had endorsed him earlier in the year after learning that Mr Ryan demanded sex from his now ex-wife in a strip club.
