Side Benefits Of DUI Checkpoints

Apparently, the city of Oakland has stumbled on a great way of enforcing illegal immigration through DUI checkpoints. It's kinda like a backdoor enforcement mechanism. Alas though the illegal immigrant lobby in Oakland got a whiff of what was happening and now the DUI checkpoints will be all but abandoned. It's too bad. It's actually a great idea. You kill two birds with one stone so to speak. You get drunk drivers off the road and nab illegal immigrants at the same time. What a brilliant idea. I'm sure all the cities with a huge illegal population, i.e Santa Ana & Los Angeles are panic stricken right now and are scheming on how they can put a stop to those pesky DUI checkpoints. I guess a corollary of this is that the student body at UC Berkeley can go out on the town and get loaded without worrying about getting caught at a checkpoint. Newton's Law: for every action, there's a reaction or something to that effect :) (I didn't take physics, so lay off me)
